Peter Baumann


Peter Baumann was born on Jan. 29th 1953 in Berlin, Germany. After joining the musical group Tangerine Dream in 1971, he toured with the band worldwide and recorded multiple Gold records until 1981. Mr. Baumann moved to New York in 1982 and founded the record company, Private Music. He served as CEO of Private Music until 1994 when the company was sold to RCA.

Peter has been happily married for 27 years and is father to three grown children. He resides in San Francisco, California and serves as director of several privately held real estate and natural resource companies. For many years, he has focused on the exploration of well-being and quality of life from a philosophical, conceptual and experiential perspective. Peter co-authored EGO: The Fall of the Twin Towers and the Rise of an Enlightened Humanity with Michael Taft. He serves on the board of CIIS and is a Fellow at the Mind & Life Institute.

Jeff Klein

Executive Director

When not focused on parenting his pre-teen daughter and serving as Executive Director of The Baumann Foundation, Jeff Klein runs Working for Good, a conscious marketing and business development company. He is the author of the award winning book, Working for Good: Making a Difference While Making a Living (Sounds True, 2009), a director of Conscious Capitalism, Inc, and producer of Conscious Capitalism events. Jeff has been working with Peter Baumann off and on since 1984, when they teamed up to build Private Music. He enjoys surfing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, ChiRunning, Yoga, and moving in general.

Michael Taft

Editor-in-Chief of

Michael W. Taft has dedicated his life to exploring the field of human consciousness. During the 1990s, he was Editorial Director of Sounds True, working to publish the most important spiritual and psychology teachers of the day. Since 2000, he has been an author and editor collaborating on such works as Ego, with Peter Baumann. Since 2011, Michael has been the Editor-in-Chief of, which explores the human experience through science, self, and community. A resident of Berkeley, California, Michael also teaches mindfulness meditation in a secular format.
